Tips umum
Air Hike (in the abilities section of the Power Up menu) is necessary for many secret areas in the game, such as secret red orb locations and blue orb fragments, so it should be given a high priority in Power Up menus.
3. In general (these are general tips, after all) Nero's gun is too weak to be efficient or useful, while Dante's various guns are strong enough to be helpful.
4. For Nero, you typically use slashes primarily to take away enemy health with Busters (O button) mixed in, which deal more damage. Keeping a good mix of these methods and using varying sword attacks all the time gives you a better Stylish level, which helps give you more Proud Souls to upgrade.
5. If a boss ever appears to be slumped over or dazed, that typically means you can perform a special Buster attack on them to cause major damage.
Mission 01: Birds of a Feather
Boss #1: Dante
1. When the cutscene ends, you'll fight against Dante. The first half is just a tutorial. Follow the on screen instructions to learn the controls.
2. Once you've gotten to the real boss fight part, your revolver is useless, as Dante will shoot all of your bullets to cancel them out.
3. Use your simple triangle sword combos to defeat Dante along with your buster. Even after the fight gives you a health bar, this is still meant to be a tutorial, so you shouldn't have too much trouble.
Mission 02: La Porte De L'Enfer
1. Check out the upgrade screen ("Power Up") for the first time and buy something in the somewhat rare event that you have enough proud souls.
2. As you have seen in the cutscene, "scarecrows" have begun a massacre in the city, so they're going to be your enemy here. You can now use Nero's Exceed powers by charging your blade with L2. Your revolver is (and will always be) relatively useless, so use your sword combos and busters in clearing out the enemies.
3. Enter the blue door with the red orb in front of it after clearing the plaza.
4. When inside, use the kick jump as instructed by the on-screen tip to reach the gold orb. Be sure to break all the boxes, barrels, chairs or anything breakable-looking you see for more red orbs.
5. Once you go upstairs, you'll enter your first sealed room, meaning that you cannot leave until you've killed the enemies within, in this case three more scarecrows.
6. Go out to the terrace, ignore the scarecrows down below, and head back inside the next door.
7. Ignore the currently unreachable orbs for a minute and just head down and examine the blue pillar to gain the "evil legacy" and more powers for your devil bringer. With these new powers, you can use Hell Bound to vault up and get out of the cathedral. Use your new power, Snatch with R1 + O, to get that big red orb you saw upon coming in. Trying to jump the gap will just force you to climb up again. Head outside through this new red door.
8. Once outside, vault across the plaza to the other terrace. You'll be taught about secret missions, with an obvious one standing right in front of you in pillar/lamp form with a red scroll on it. Press O to play it, and attempt to earn a blue orb fragment. Secret mission help is detailed nearer the bottom of the page.
9. Jump across to a new terrace where two scarecrows will mob you in another sealed door scenario. Take care of them (try to get them both on one side of you to avoid getting surrounded) then head on through to the next terrace. You'll meet yet another sealed door with more scarecrows. This time you'll have more room to face them. Move on to the residential district.
10. Fall down (don't be scared) and get ready for more scarecrows. Be sure to break everything, especially the huge red crystal. Jump up onto the rooftops just to the right of the red crystal, following a path of small red orbs that will lead you to your first blue orb fragment. These will eventually help increase your health capacity.
11. Fall back down to street level between the dumpster and tall tower. If you can manage to kick jump to the top of the tower, there's a secret red orb stash as reward for you. Move on to the door leading to Port Caerula.
12. Move along the left path along the docks to reach the Grim Grip. Go in the blue door to the Customs house for another scarecrow battle.
13. Once you've cleared them out, hit that blue thing(?) several times to open the blue sealed door. Head up, (no you can't use the ladder), and out.
14. Examine the switch up ahead for a cutscene, then backtrack to the new lowered bridge.
15. You'll have another fight with scarecrows, then continue forward while destroying the garbage bins.
16. First Mining Area: Go down the gap across the room for some red orbs, then use the Grim Grips to boost up to the level above. Here you'll find your first Combat Adjudicator (you may know it as a "crazy-looking statue"). Hit it over and over with a large variety of attacks until you reach stylish level B (for Brutal) and then it will give you another blue orb fragment. Just past it is a divinity statue, which will allow you to power up as you did before the mission began. You won't have new proud souls, but you should have plenty enough red orbs to buy a blue orb, giving you more maximum health.
Boss #2: Berial
1. Don't let this guy freak you out. You may have already beaten him if you played the demo at some point, and he's really not that hard to beat in the end. Even if you die a few times to figure out his style, you'll get him at some point.
2. STRATEGY: The general pattern here is to slash Berial a lot up close while attempting to avoid his repeating attacks. Enough slashes will make him sort of slouch and lose his fire, which means you need to jump up and perform a Buster (O) on him, then do that again once he's on the ground. After that Buster, run away and shoot him a bit with your revolver when you're at a safe distance from his huge explosion attack.
3. Berial's Attacks: If he rears back with his sword, get ready to roll (R1 + X) to one side, though you won't always dodge successfully. If he puts his hand to the ground, keep running in one direction as geysers of fire spew out, no matter where you are. If he rears back with extra fire and without his sword out, roll in one direction as he suddenly charges you. Any other general slashes can be avoided generally by jumping in one direction.
4. Just remember to keep slashing and shooting when far away, and jump up for your Buster attacks or else you won't get to immediately use the second one while he's down. Also, use your Devil Bringer to Snatch for a few seconds of mid-air chopping. Good luck, and that's the end of Mission 02.
Mission 03: The White Wing
1. Head straight back into the action. Some scarecrows are waiting for you right at the start. As you approach the scarecrows, there is a path to the left with a rickety wooden fence blocking the path. Break it for another huge red crystal of red orbs. Go back to upgrade if you didn't have enough when powering up at the mission start menu.
2. At the waterfall, jump up so you can reach the series of Grim Grips that will help you up and out. Halfway up, you can stop and hop down among some roofs to get a large red orb. There is a really tough blue orb available if you use the Grim Grips above where you are at the large red orb. Kick-jump off of the wall past the second of them, pointing up to grip another set of Grim Grips. Unfortunately, the final platform is very tough to actually land on.
3. Move on over the railroad tracks halfway up the cavern, then face a few more scarecrows. Afterwards, continue up next to the ladder and be sure to check the path to your left as you move on for a vital star.
4. Break the fence to get out to a snowy new area. Immediately on your left on a mountainside is a small area with a large red orb you can jump up to. Continue back along the snowy trail until you reach a cutscene and a new type of enemy - Frosts. You can break some pillars in this area for goodies. The cutscene comes at the broken bridge in front of Fortuna Castle.
5. After dealing with the Frosts (keep one away from you at all times with your Buster move) hop up onto the bottom left and right pillars (the ones that don't break when you shoot or chop them) to receive secret orbs. Move on to the castle gate for another cutscene with Gloria.
6. Once you've finally entered the gate, you'll reach the Grand Hall, where you should collect orbs by destroying everything. Afterwards, you may power up with another statue in the NW corner of the room. Your next door is just south of that statue.
7. Your old friends, the scarecrows, are back. Be sure to smash any candlesticks for red orbs. There's another upgrade statue at the north end of this Large Hall, but you need to go in a door in the west end.
8. Once inside the Torture Chamber, you reach a sealed room with several scarecrows to beat. After moving on up the stairs, there's a room with spikes at the ceiling (actually where you just were) with some particularly difficult Grim Grips. Some disappear from time to time and others move, but you basically have to just hit them all as quickly as you can to get across. Any drops will mean you have to face the same scarecrow horde again. Yep, it's a torture chamber. Hold R1 for every independent jump you have to make and just mash the O button as fast as you can. Have some sense with it though. There are some short instances where this policy will fail you.
9. Once you're through to the Grand Hall 2nd floor, you should move north along the perimeter, making sure to grab the two red orbs on the wall through a kick jump and snatch move. Magical barriers (glorified invisible walls) will prevent you from entering any door but the correct one.
10. You'll move outside to find two surprisingly tough Frosts. Use your Buster wisely to keep one away from you, and watch out for their ice bullet attacks. Remember your Exceed powers with L2.
11. Move along north, until you find a weird lamp/pillar thing with a vital star above it. You can reach it, but you have to kick-jump on the pillar so that you land on top of it, then jump. It's a bit tough, but just go to the side, kick jump without holding in any direction, then calmly move in the correct direction just after you start coming back down.
12. As you continue east from the pillar, another combat adjudicator will appear, but it is red, meaning only Dante can use it. Continue through the door. Another two Frosts will confront you, so deal with them as you did earlier.
13. Continue south to get back into the Grand Hall, on the opposite side of the room. There's a blue pedestal to hit that will allow you on through. Don't go through the door yet. On your way south from the pedestal, a large mirror sits on the right wall that you can break to find another blue orb fragment. Now, continue through that door you opened up.
14. The Gallery you enter will be sealed with lots of scarecrows and lots of red orb stuff to break. Ignore the gyro blade and continue into the Library. A red orb stash does exist on a pillar outside, but you'll need Air Hike. Once you continue on past the Divinity Statue, you'll see a cutscene with a Bianco Angelo. Despite the build up, they're easy to beat as all you really have to watch out for is their charge attack, then go around their back and use a Buster on them. They block attacks to their front. After you've beaten them, collect any remaining orbs and examine the anima mercury in the golden pillar. This concludes Mission 03.
Mission 04: Cold Blooded
1. Thanks to that Anima Mercury, you can now move the Gyro Blades with your Buster attack. As the tutorial screen suggests, slashing the Gyro Blades before using your Buster makes them more deadly when they hit enemies. Guide the first Gyro Blade through that blue door to escape the library. You've got to leave that Gyro Blade in there, so don't spend forever trying to get it to squeeze through the door.
2. Once you get back to the Gallery, two scarecrows and eventually two Frosts will attack you. Use the Gyro Blade if you wish, but it's not necessary to kill them.
3. Once out into the Grand Hall, text along the bottom of the screen suggests that the blue coffin in the middle of the hall you hopefully noticed "is summoning" a gyro blade, meaning you should find one to smash that coffin open with. Jump down to the lower floor and look in the north section for a Gyro Blade, which you should promptly use to break it. Also, break the chairs to get red orbs if you'd like. The broken coffin will reveal a "seal" that doesn't help you yet. Go through the eastern door.
4. In the Large Hall, the game basically tells you to collect the four Gyro Blades in the area and place them on the four circles up north. You have to use one of the Gyro Blades already in its place on a circle and take it to the SW corner to break open the wall to another. Enemies will appear after you go to retrieve the various blades, but simply charge yours by slashing it then Buster it right into them to clear them out immediately. Either before or after this retrieval, go to the door just above the iron-gated area containing another Gyro Blade.
5. Inside this Dining Room are two Bianco Angelos and plenty of stuff to break. Beat them using the strategies suggested when they were first encountered at the end of Mission 03, then head through the door and look west for another Gyro Blade as you hear a fire cannon on the other end of the hallway. Use the Gyro Blade as a shield and make your way on down towards the fire cannon, sending the Gyro Blade into it to destroy it and reveal a new Secret Mission (#2). Completing the secret mission will return your Gyro Blade to its original position, but you won't need it, so don't worry.
6. Now you are into the caged area with the next Gyro Blade you need. Once you move in a bit, the blue pedestal you'll need to hit to get out is sealed off. Scarecrows will attack you again. Get rid of them, hit the blue pedestal, then take your Gyro Blade and eliminate the scarecrows that appear outside the now open caged area. Take that Gyro Blade to the circles in the north then get the last one in the SW if you haven't already. The four blades combined will open up the blue seal and grant you access to a large green orb and a door. Go through that door, obviously, and be ready for a boss fight.
Boss #3: Bael
1. The first cutscene will reveal the Rusalkas, two blue enemies that you'll soon discover aren't exactly real. Once you're in battle, focus on one of them and keep hitting them until they pull away. As they pull away from you, just use Streak (R1 + triangle and up, if you've purchased it) to quickly close the gap and keep hitting them. Eventually, they'll pull straight up and you need to start running away, as the real boss is about to jump right at you. This will trigger another cutscene.
2. The huge toad you now face will use a few different attacks on you. First of all, he'll try and jump on you. Roll away to avoid his shadow. Also, he'll shoot ice spikes which have shadows. Move away from their shadows. Then, if he takes in a breath and his throat gets bigger, just run in one direction to get away. Otherwise, keep slicing him and use a Buster on either his tongue or tail tip when he sticks his tongue out and flops down.
3. Eventually, he'll retreat and the Rusalkas will come back, so use the same strategy. Buster one if she collapses and turns red, which will pull Bael back out.
4. When he eventually turns red, he'll basically just try to jump on you more. If he freezes, get away from his mouth area, otherwise he will eat you.
5. In general, don't worry too much about being close to him, especially if you're not directly in front of him. He'll usually just try to increase the gap between you. After he's dead, mission complete.
Mission 05: Trisagion
1. You will be introduced to the Mephistos. These cloaked enemies require you to use Snatch on them a few times. This will remove their cloak, then you can slice and Buster them on the ground in their smaller form. If your tutorial mode is on, you'll be told about the Rusalka corpse ability. This allows you to better find secrets. The Devil Bringer will light up and you will hear sounds similar to a mine detector. This will help you find the secret red orb stash on the second block down on the eastern wall. Just stand on top of it. Destroy all of the tombs in the area for orbs. The other Rusalka clue around here is a secret mission under the stairs. You'll have to wait until Mission 08 to actually be able complete it. Head up the stairs and through the door.
2. Once inside, two and eventually three Bianco Angelos will attack you. Dispose of them, then break the surrounding objects for orbs. Break the mirror above the fireplace for another Secret Mission. It will be #10.
3. When you go through the the door, there will be a blue pedestal adjacent to you. Use it to lower the spiked ceiling so you can get the Gyro Blade across (the game won't let you fall, invisible walls will save you). Use that Blade to break the blue pillar, and then you'll fall down into the Spiral Well.
4. Here you face more Mephistos (Snatch the cloak off, then pummel their smaller form). A sealed item will be unsealed (the wing talisman).
5. The wing talisman will allow these platforms to boost you up. Use the platforms to make your way up, taking plenty of time to collect red orbs and other items on various ledges. The controls are very simple, because you can magically move in mid-jump. Go into the open cells on the ledges. One has a red crystal and another has a secret red orb stash when you walk into it far enough. Some holy water lays just below one ledges' tip (it's blue, just fall off of it close enough and you'll snatch it.) Once you jump off of the top platform, you'll be brought back up where you need to go.
6. You will be back in the Torture Chamber. Here you must fight that same old group of scarecrows, plus two more Mephistos, which can cause some problems. Take care of them as best you can. Head through the door just south of you into the Grand Hall.
7. In the Grand Hall, the game will hint that you should use the glowing platform with your wing talisman. Break all the chairs and benches first, then check out the Divinity Statue in the room if you have enough red orbs for something. When ready, go onto that platform.
8. The platform helps you up onto the chandelier, which will look like you should slice it. Do so for a cutscene. Go into the new room, down the stairs, Snatch the green vital star behind the cage if you wish. Head on through that door downstairs.
9. Go down this hall and watch a cutscene, which ends the mission.
Mission 06: Resurrection
1. Don't Jump! Move around the top area first to get that blue orb fragment on the other side. Barrels now can be destroyed for red orbs, by the way. Continue forward. There's another Dante combat adjudicator down here that you can't use.
2. Once you go through, a cutscene plays to introduce you to Cutlasses, a new shark/lizard enemy. These can be rather difficult, especially when there's only one left. Target one, shoot it to slow it down, then Snatch it towards you and Buster it to pull it up. It will quiver on the ground and you can hit it, but the others will hit you while you're trying to do that. When there's just one left, it keeps attacking over and over. You have to wait for it to try to get you from below (red will appear on the floor below your feet), then side-roll to dodge it. Finally, Snatch it while it's above ground.
3. Welcome to the Game Room. There's a board game on the floor with a figurine of Nero on a space, and a huge rotating die. Apparently, whichever number is face-up on the die when you hit it with a Buster is the number you'll get, even after it rolls. Therefore, you can work out the series and get whatever number you want with enough practice. Red spaces give you enemies to fight, blue spaces drop orbs in some way, white spaces make you roll again and yellow spaces move to the next yellow space. You have to move around through all this to eventually land on the exit space. Once you're finished, there's a Divinity Statue up the small stairs if you need it before moving on.
Boss #4: Agnus' Containment Room
1. Inside the room you'll see a cutscene to meet Agnus and his Gladius creatures (Latin for sword). The health bar at the bottom of the screen is for the glass separating you and Agnus. Buster the Gladii to send them into the glass and lower that bar. The floor will sometimes be electrified (forecast by warning alarms and yellow sparks), so just jump on the center platform and try not to get hit by too many Gladii. Jump around to dodge them, but otherwise just Snatch and Buster.
2. After you jump in where the containment glass was, you get a cutscene and you're back to regular play. Now you've earned Yamato, and the Devil Trigger power. There's a secret red orb where Yamato had been in that blue beam. Go outside, and hit that blue pedestal for a new path.
3. Break the barrels around here and go upstairs. Once up, you'll see a blue orb fragment you can reach with a Streak off the edge of the platform followed by an Air Hike, if you've purchased that ability. If timed right after a Streak, Roulette Spin or Snatch have a chance of grabbing it.
4. Kill the Bianco Angelos that face you here, then look behind the yellow statues of cloaked men in the NE corner for Secret Mission 04. Go upstairs for more Bianco Angelos. Go to the SE corner down the ladder for a secret red orb stash. More Bianco Angelos. Head through the door.
5. Examine the green panel to get some platforms to open up. Jump up all of them onto the white pavement area and go down the hallway. You'll end up in the Grand Hall. Go back through the painting, then go immediately right or left through a door.
6. Continue through and kill the Frosts. Keep going, and you'll realize the bridge now exists, so cross it. You'll get a cutscene showing the bridge vanish again. Go through the cave opening and a cutscene will carry you to the end of the mission.
Mission 07: The She-Viper
1. Power up, and be sure to check out the new purple orbs you can buy and the Yamato skills you can now upgrade.
2. As you begin, you should be able to see a pod just on the other side of Nero from your viewpoint. You can break these for red orbs. You'll find several in a log next to the stone arched building up ahead. There's a secret mission in the building, but you can't complete it without Dante, so move on to that red crystal you'll see just past there and hit it for orbs. Go forward.
3. In the next area you'll see a big drop, but move along the left side before dropping for a pod to destroy and then some holy water on a ledge just higher from there. Drop down, pods abound, and some Chimera Seeds (new enemy) will confront you somewhat lazily. Buster them to immediately kill them, they shouldn't give you any trouble yet. You'll be forced by blue walls to go up some stairs and into the Ruined Church.
4. Inside, a cutscene will present the Chimera Seed-driven scarecrows, which can be a bit tougher due to the blades the Chimeras deploy at certain times, no matter what state the scarecrow is in. Shoot them a bit, then use Snatch and Buster to kill them when their blades aren't going. In general, keep distance between them and you. Smash the glass to your right for lots of pods and yet another Dante-only combat adjudicator. You can break some glass below the staircase only to find a "strange tree" blocking your path in that direction.
5. Head up the stairs and hit the blue pedestal. A path across will appear and eventually disappear, so sort of hurry across as the path creates itself slowly.
6. Grim grip across two gaps and then hit the blue pedestal. Platforms like the ones inside the church will appear, but just go onto the first one then come back to land to deal with the Mephistos that will appear. Once they're gone, activate the platforms again, so you don't have to deal with them. If the Mephistos knock you off the platforms, you'll end up in a Torture Chamber-esque area with more enemies to kill.
7. There's a blue orb fragment in mid-air above the fifth set of platforms which you can reach either with Air Hike or a jump, roulette spin, and Snatch. Hurry before the platform disappears, though. Hint: Platforms that are about to disappear become bluer and darker, before suddenly turning red and almost immediately afterwards disappearing. Typically, they're just the set of platforms that had previously come up, but sometimes they'll disappear faster to trick you. Keep on them as they appear until the platforms lead you directly onto a ledge with a door.
8. Go over the bridge or search around for pods, then turn left. At the end of that path behind a tree is Secret Mission 05. Once you've either completed or had enough with that secret mission, go down the right path instead to get to the Ancient Plaza.
9. Near that small pit in front of you, scarecrows and Chimera seeds will come at you. Take care of the seeds first with an instant-kill Buster, or else you'll get the much more irritating Chimera scarecrows. When ready, head out.
10. Now you'll be given a Gyro Blade to bust through those blue walls blocking your way earlier. After that will be more chimeras and scarecrows, so use the Gyro Blade if you wish in dealing with them. Pointing directly south on your map is the second blue door you should break, and the next path you should take.
11. Once onto the catwalk, a large dragon will start chasing you, so proceed towards the camera and break or jump the pods in your way before it breaks the catwalk you're on. You don't have far to go before a cutscene will interrupt and make it look closer than it actually was.
12. A blue adjudicator sits past the door clearly in sight, so hit it with varied attacks until you get to Atomic Stylish level for red orbs and a blue orb fragment. Continue on, kill the chimeracrows, use the Divinity Statue if you wish, charge your exceed and get ready for a boss.
Boss #5: Echidna
1. This boss is a dragon-like creature from earlier with a lady inside its mouth. Here are some strategies for successfully attacking her: if she's in the air, jump up and slashing her. If she's drilled into the ground, jump up and slashing her. If you can see a pink flower object, use a Buster on it. If she ever looks dazed or slumped, use a Buster on her. Use your new Devil power (L1) a fair amount to get extra damage in.
2. She will attack you by: Swinging her head around, in which case you need to be on the ground. Swinging her tail around, in which case you need to be in the air. Zooming around as a dragon, when you should be shooting her, then rolling out of the way when she gets close. Using big tentacles or shooting seeds at you when she's drilled into the ground, just keep moving to dodge them.
3. She's not especially tough for a boss, just use your L1 power, hit seeds on the edges of the map for health if you need to and keep slicing and using Buster on her. The mission is complete once you've beaten her and used your new Sephirothic Fruit to get rid of those strange red trees.
Mission 08: Profession of Faith
1. Move along this path until you move under the arch with a pod on the ceiling. Break it (you may need Air Hike) and you'll get a quick and easy blue orb fragment. Move on through for a quick pair of Chimera Seeds and Scarecrows, which you should defeat in the manner mentioned in the last mission.
2. Once you're into the next area, a strange tree will block your path, but your Sephirothic Fruit will dissolve it if you examine the roots. Move on over the bridge and head north unless you haven't done that secret missions (#5) to the south yet.
3. Move in just a bit more, and a cutscene will show you the new lizardmen, Assaults. The trick for these enemies is to attack them so that they'll block rather than attack you. Once they've started blocking, you can either move around their back or Snatch them then use a Buster to slam them into the ground. Once they're down, start slashing normally. Try not to get surrounded. You only want to deal with one at a time unless you use Streak to hit several at once.
4. Once you moved out of that area, you'll come to the Windswept Valley with the Gyro Blade, but there are no enemies here. Take some time to destroy the pods around here for orbs and health, then move up the steps to the Ruined Church.
5. Several scarecrows and three Assaults will come up inside the church. Deal with them one at a time with the room you have in here. Bust the pods to your right as you enter, then go through to the strange tree below the staircase (you may have to break some glass leading to it).
6. You'll reach an area with a statue and a glowing tablet. Here you get a forest maze "puzzle." The only trick is to look where the statue's shadow is, and head the opposite direction. The tablet sort of hints this by mentioning that you should "seek the light". First, head the wrong direction so you can reach a blue orb fragment.
7. After you've gone the wrong way, Chimeras will attack you. After you've defeated them, a portal back to where you were will be opened. Before using that portal, jump around the edge of the area with Air Hike until you see the blue orb fragment high up in the air. Your Devil Bringer should also help you find it. Just jump up to it if you've bought that ability. Head back through the blue portal, then go the correct way from now on through the woods.
8. Three correct turns will take you to the Forgotten Ruins. Go straight through this bridge to the blue door. A team of scarecrows and Assaults will attack you. Kill them as usual. There's a Divinity Statue here, which you should know means a boss fight is coming up. Continue onward past it and over a long path to trigger the fight.
Boss #6: Angelo Credo
1. This time, you'll be facing Angelo in his angel/demon form. Slashing him in this battle is basically pointless. All you need to use is your revolver and Buster. Keep running and side-rolling to dodge basically every attack Credo uses. Shoot your revolver constantly in breaks to slowly lower his health. After one of his big sword combos, when he's stuck into the ground, use a Buster and you'll hit his shield. You have to do that several times until the shield turns orange, and then one more time so the shield turns blue again. Then your next Buster will be the good one, so you should use Devil Trigger just before you do it. You'll probably only have to do that twice if you've kept firing the revolver.
2. Credo will use various sword combos whenever you come right up to him, so just run up then run away again. Be sure to stay close enough to get up and Buster him once he's finished with his combo. Then, sometimes, he'll throw lances at you, which you should just dodge by running perpendicular to wherever he's throwing from. If you're close enough to him while he's throwing the lances, you can Buster him. Also, you can time it just right to Buster the lances themselves. The mission ends after the cutscene.
Mission 09: For You
1. Items down both sides of this hallway you enter can be broken for orbs. Move on for a scene involving combat between Assaults and some Bianco Angelos, including the new Alto Angelo. Take out the Biancos first by getting behind them as always, though they'll tend to make it harder for you by staying up in the air while the Alto is around. Once they're done, you have to just slice away at the Alto, avoiding his attacks, until his shield is broken (you'll know, he changes color as well) and you can Buster him however many times it takes. Altos are obviously a bit tougher than regular creatures, so watch out.
2. Move to the door into a new, different Grand Hall, with a few benches and pots to break and a combat adjudicator on the left you need to get up to S(mokin') Stylish level to break. Also look for a Devil Star on the opposite side where the adjudicator would be. Examine the red pedestal ahead only to find it won't help you.
3. Now lasers cover the room you were just in, but a door has opened up ont he east side. Just jump over the individual lasers and jump up to that door. Another team of Angelos will attack you, in a much smaller area just to make it even tougher. Lasers appear on each set of doors, so try not to run into them. Some stuff around the room breaks (I'm not quite sure what it was since I was fighting) but it will give you orbs and health, so that helps a lot. Once you've beaten the Angelos, the Key of Cronus will unseal, allowing you to slow time as you Buster the device that appears in the middle of the room. This will slow time and the lasers down, allowing you to go out the door to the west.
4. The next room gives you a secret red orb stash in the middle of a very small pit. Hit the blue pedestal once you've gotten that, then enter the elevator that came down and kill the scarecrows that appear inside. There's not a lot of room, so it may be a good idea to jump up and keep doing mid-air Busters where the scarecrows can't surround you. Once they're dead, the elevator will finally start. You'll see a blue orb fragment, but you have to go up another level before you can drop down and get it. For now, hit the Cronus pedestal to move through the lasers.
5. Frosts will attack you as you enter the next elevator. Have fun with them... Move up once you've finally destroyed them, then go out the wrong door (look around) so you can drop down and get the blue orb fragment. Yes, you'll have to come up again, but you don't have to kill anything else, until you've moved to the third elevator with the Assaults. After the Assaults, you'll reach a room with a Divinity Statue, which means it's about boss time again. Get ready, heal if you have to.
Boss #7: Agnus
1. Right off the bat Agnus shows you his first and most basic attack, two slashes in a row with the Gladius. Just roll and jump away. He'll also charge up several Gladii to send at you that will continue to cycle around the room to try and hit you until you kill them, charge up fireballs to hit you, grab some cutlasses to spin around at you then throw them at you, or go to the center of the room and charge a black cloud of energy that will hit you, no matter what. Also, a charge that will grab you and start draining your life to add to his. Use Devil Trigger to escape his grip when he does that.
2. You must keep slashing him all the time between his attacks, then use Buster whenever he sort of slouches and starts to twitch violently when you slash him. You can Buster the Gladii to throw them at him as well. If he starts charging fireballs or especially that black cloud, you need to start slashing him a lot. Enough hits will force him to stop charging those attacks, and you'll be safe. As always, use Devil Trigger to increase your damage and really increase the damage you deal with Buster attacks. Those are the basics, this fight can be either really tough or really easy depending on the kind of attacks he chooses to use. Mission complete after the fight and a cutscene.
Mission 10: Wrapped in Glory
1. Go back out of this room and across into the elevator. Here you meet yet another super version of a previous enemy, the Faust. It is an improved version of Mephisto. The strategy for defeating them is the same as the Mephistos, only tougher. You still have to Snatch their cloak off then hammer them as you would a regular enemy. For this fight, take on the Mephistos before the big Faust.
2. Once they're dead, you'll be treated to more lasers and Cronus pedestals, so make your way through and slash the blue pedestal. This will open up a way to drop down adjacent to the first set of lasers you went through. Fall down there to get back to the ground floor of this elevator room.
3. Once you're back to the Key Chamber, an Alto and three Bianco Angelos will mob you. This is rough, so use your Devil Trigger and hit stuff around the room to heal. Do your best, then use the Cronus in the middle of the room to get back through the lasers on the east side.
4. Once you're back in the Grand Hall, head south as you had tried before. You'll notice a perfectly fine bridge sitting here that you can cross. Do so and enter the door ahead.
5. You will encounter more lasers. Hit the Cronus and proceed carefully but quickly enough so that your time doesn't run out. You basically have lots of jumps to do, so just keep running and jump at the right time. There's a Secret Mission (#6).
6. In the fan room, clearly don't get hit by the fan. Just drop down and Mephistos and a Fausto will attack. Once they're dead, examine the red pedestal to slow time. This will allow you to hop up the fan blades as fast as you can and get to the platform with the door. It may take you a few tries. Just jump to the platform with the closed doors, not the one that looks open.
7. Continue forward, and eventually four Bianco Angelos will attack you. Deal with them or just move up to the purple pedestal. Once you move up and head through a door, two Alto Angelos will attack. This will be rough, but doable. You can find some candlesticks by the walls which will fully heal you. There's also a Secret Mission on your left across from the Divinity Statue, but it's preferable to complete that as Dante. Use the Divinity Statue and get ready for a fight.
Boss #8: Dante
1. Dante has so many attacks it's difficult to describe them all. Here are a few tricks to beating him.
2. Trick #1: Shoot him over and over (he'll cancel all your shots out with his guns) until you get really close, then slash him and Buster him. Your Buster, unless in Devil Trigger, will only lead to a twitch battle which will push one of you back (press triangle as quick as you can). Clearly, use Devil Trigger whenever you think you've got his number on this trick. Sometimes, this will not work, as Dante will decide to use Streak on you, rather than deal with shooting your bullets. You win some, you lose some.
3. Trick #2: Get on that platform in the middle of the room and Buster Dante before he lands on it. I had a lot of trouble getting this to work, but it's theoretically safer. Your choice.
4. Trick #3: Never finish a slashing combo, but rather keep using your Buster before you finish it out. This will allow you to sometimes keep hitting him for a long time, as you slash, slash, then Buster, win the faceoff and then start over.
5. Dante's tough, and no amount of walkthrough guidance will really give you all you need to beat him, so you may need to go backwards to old missions for red orbs so you can afford blue and gold orbs to get rid of him. Don't abandon all hope, as the game suggests when you die.
Mission 11: The Ninth Circle
1. First of all, get the combat adjudicator on this level before hitting the blue pedestal. It's a tough one, because you have to get all the way to SSS, but keep plugging away with varied attacks. Now, hit that blue pedestal on this level around the circle. Grim Grips will appear.
2. Once you're past them and you move a bit in, you'll be sealed into a small area with two Mephistos. After one of them is dead, their Fausto will come up as well. Kill them, though the small room will make it tougher than usual. When this is accomplished, grab the large green orb ahead in front of the gazebo. Examine the red pedestal to get a lift up.
3. Once you've gotten up, you'll hear battle. This is because scarecrows are on the other side of a gate with buttons on both sides. Notice the sign that reads "Proceeding alone is strictly prohibited." You have to stand on one switch and Snatch the scarecrow to get him on the other one so the gate will open.
4. Kill the scarecrows, then head up the long staircase. At the top is a Divinity Statue and a lift that you can't activate yet. Break the gate and stand in the inactive lift to receive lots of orbs.
5. If you move to the right towards a gap, you can see Grim Grips with large red orbs over them. Don't worry about falling, there's only a gap you have to wall-kick out of. If you need the red orbs, wall kick-off of the wall behind the Grips, then swing onto them to catch the orbs. Here, however, you just need to get up where you were to begin with. Once up, swing on both Grips quickly, then either wall-kick or Air Hike over the high wall to the right. You'll meet a very similar situation in just a second with another set of Grim Grips.
6. A single Alto Angelo will confront you as you get over the second high wall. He'll be next to the blue pedestal. You must hit the pedestal for more Grim Grips. Use them quickly, because they'll disappear. Once you're up, examine the red pedestal for another fight: three Bianco Angelos and an Alto, once you've killed a Bianco. There's a small Green Orb in the corner if you need it. After they're dead, the lift will finally activate and you can hop back down to it.
7. Once you've backtracked to the lift and Divinity Statue, you'll be set upon by Altos, scarecrows and Biancos over time. You may want to just head on through the lift and get on with the boss fight. Use the Statue if you need to first.
Boss #9: Sanctus
1. Sanctus is difficult because he will attempt to stay away from you at all times. You have to destroy two layers of his bubble shield before you can hurt him regularly. When he gets down to 1/5 of his life, the fight gets a lot tougher with the Savior thrown in the mix.
2. His basic attacks are various sorts of lasers and fireballs. For both, one version is in the air and one is on the ground. You can typically dodge them by just being in the opposite place. There is also one top-down laser attack he'll use that forces you to just back away. His attacks can always be stopped if you take away a shield layer while he's charging them.
3. The general problem is that Sanctus is constantly pulling away from you, and you have to Snatch-swing on the little droid-looking things that he keeps in front of him. Afterwards, you'll need to Snatch in order to get close enough to slash and break his shield. For the first layer, this isn't difficult, but for the second layer he'll pull back a lot. This forces you to either corner him or more likely hit him while he's trying to attack you. Once the second layer has been broken, he'll fall and allow you to slash and Buster him on the ground. Make sure you Buster him in time. The slashes aren't nearly as important. Use Devil Trigger for extra damage, as always.
4. Once the Savior appears, you have less time to break Sanctus' shield before he'll hover up and try to smash you with the Savior's fist. You can dodge this by running in one direction and perhaps side-rolling or jumping, but the main issue is the shortened time.
5. The second layer can be annoying, especially with the Savior. Try to stay back for a moment and let Sanctus charge an attack, especially if he's taken himself into a corner. Hopefully, the attack will be the fire along the ground or something similarly harmless. If so, you'll have time to slash him while he's trying to hurt you and is vulnerable. That's usually your best bet for destroying the second layer. This boss fight concludes chapter 11.
Mission 12: A New Beginning
1. You're now Dante, so you inherit all the orbs and proud souls that Nero ever earned. This allows you to cash in all of the orbs and souls before the mission. You can always refund them, so don't worry too much. Try to upgrade Sword Master style and get your Air Hike back, along with Stinger and Stinger 2. You'll figure out what it is you like.
2. So, now you begin the long backtrack through everywhere you went as Nero, this time playing as Dante.
3. NOTE: You'll notice that Dante's guns are much, much more potent.
4. The room where you begin gives you loads of scarecrows to try out your new combat system on.
5. Try out the Secret Mission on your right now if you want, but you won't be quite ready for it yet. It's still advisable to wait until you get another ability as Dante. Once you move forward, you'll face the Mega Scarecrows with blades all over them. You'll still be toying with your new fighting, so this may appear tough, but use Stinger to your advantage (R1 + up + triangle) and keep hitting them so they can't throw their blades at you. Also, get away after they're dead, or a blade will fall on you.
6. Keep moving north, and then you'll come to the wonderful realization that the building is about to collapse. You will have ten minutes to get back through the grand hall and out of the building. Don't worry, because I got out while searching for orbs and I had four minutes left. Drop down this long gap and search around for a gold orb among some fallen rocks. Then hit the blue pedestal and go into the elevator to fight some Frosts. I found them much easier than they had been with Dante, but kill them quickly due to the time limit.
7. Once they're dead, you'll go up the elevator, then face some Mephistos (shoot them with the shotgun to get their cloaks off). Afterwards, activate the pedestal there to get the Key of Cronus which will make the fan blades break down. This will let you step on up to the door on the north side. Continue forwards and encounter a slightly harder version of the horizontal lasers. Your Cronus won't run out, so don't worry if you get hit a couple of times.
8. Once you're past there and back to this Grand Hall, Alto and Bianco Angelos will attack you. Hack through them, or go around their backs if you like. Use Devil Trigger if you're low on health, which you may very likely be at this point. Hurry if you need to. Once they're dead you can simply walk out the door. You have beaten the timer. You should have lots of time left as long as the enemies didn't take you too long to conquer.
9. If you want an extra blue orb fragment, you have to head east from the Grand Hall and fight some Gladii. Or, just sneak by them by using the Cronus device in the Key Chamber. A Dante combat adjudicator is in the room just beyond, so hit it until you get to Brutal Stylish and you'll get it.
10. No matter how long you had left, immediately after you leave a cutscene will play showing the building collapse behind you. Head northward for a long way to end the mission.
Mission 13: The Devil Returns
1. It's sort of easy to get lost here back in Echidna's forest, so I'll be using area names more often than usual. You start off in the Ancient Training Ground. Head east into a purple portal. This will take you somewhere completely unconnected in the map, the Forgotten Ruins. Once you're there, turn left onto the very small balcony and jump off. Chimeras with scarecrows will attack you. When they're down, make your way through the portal just up from here.
2. Now you're in the Windswept Valley. Jump down and meet these new Chimera Assaults. They attack and jump around a lot, so keep focusing on one and get away from there when they're in the air. Slice at them, and use Stinger continually once you've gotten one down. This will let you hit it repeatedly until it dies. Go up the eastern stairs to the portal leading to the Ancient Plaza.
3. You will have regular old normal Assaults coming from behind in the open area. Head back there and deal with them. As Dante I like to use his charged Sword Master circle attack (back + hold O) to kill them. You can just wait for them to charge, then slash them all upwards at once. Head to the NE non-portal exit to the Lapis River.
4. Head south of the bridge. Fighting the Mephistos if you want to, then go through the portal below the bridge to get to the Windswept valley again. From there, go into the Ruined Church after hitting the pods in this area.
5. You'll start to really hear Echidna laughing now. Hit the pods and the combat adjudicator next to you in this room. Make sure you're in Sword Master style for the adjudicator. It's the most useful for Stylish. Go under the stairs and outside.
6. Chimera Assaults will attack you. Go through the maze as you did with Nero, heading the opposite direction from where the shadow points to.
7. There's a Divinity Statue here. Use it, and it's time to fight Echidna again.
Boss #10: Echidna
1. You may as well read the guide from last time you faced Echidna. She hasn't changed. There are no more Busters, but you can now use Dante's Sword Master O attack to great force here. Use Devil Trigger plenty to max out damage per hit. That's about it. Refer above for descriptions of her attacks. I found this fight to be the easiest yet. Again, keep using Dante's air attack with O in Sword Master, and she'll lose health surprisingly quickly.
2. Go southwest after the fight is over, and enjoy your new weapon, Gilgamesh. Press R2 to switch weapons.
Mission 14: Forest of Ruin
1. Get Kick 13 for Gilgamesh if you can afford it. The path to Fortuna Castle is somehow opened again.
2. A quick scene will introduce you to yet another new lesser enemy, the Faults. They're not the same as the others, however, as they only come up from the ground every now and then. They will try to snag you and force you down to an area where you must fight other sorts of enemies before you can get back up. This will force you to stay on your toes for this mission all the time. You can kill them after they miss you. Quickly hit them so they won't mess with you again.
3. TIP: They take three slashes with Rebellion or two hits with Gilgamesh.
4. You'll move on just a bit and get trapped in an area with Scarecrows, Chimera Seeds and Faults. You don't have to kill the Faults to unseal the area, but you'll definitely have to watch out for them in the middle of your combos against other creatures. Keep moving west.
5. Now you'll deal with Mephistos, Fausts and Faults. As before, watch out for the Faults. Shoot the Mephistos/Fausts to get their cloaks off so you can really hurt them.
6. TIP: Jump to get in quick shots with Coyote A. You shoot faster when in the air for whatever reason. Head down the northwest path.
7. Here you have Assaults and Faults. As Dante, you can actually deal with Assaults all at once rather than one at a time. Use your great Sword Master attacks and Stinger. Head out the southwest exit.
8. In the Windswept Valley, you will yet again be trapped and face Chimeracrows, Chimerassaults and Faults. Here it's very helpful to realize that Faults only control a certain area of the map they're in. Any particular section is safe after you've destroyed the Fault that exists there. Therefore, take out the Faults from two adjacent areas in this small sealed area. This will give you a safe spot to fight the Chimeras. Do not risk being trapped by Faults, or you will have to start this fight over. Once all the Chimeras are dead, head west, up the cliffs and then west again.
9. Secret Mission 08 is to your right in the gazebo, where you get to the red crystal. You had to skip this one before, because Nero couldn't do it, but Dante can. I'd suggest that you try it later when you've got time and more experience with Royal Guard style. Head through the log adjacent to the gazebo again for orbs, then exit west.
10. Welcome back to Fortuna Castle. This completes mission 14.
Mission 15: Fortuna Castle
1. Head up the left stairs and hit the combat adjudicator there until you're all the way to SS level. This will grant you a blue orb fragment. When ready, head on through the door up from there.
2. Rather than the Frosts from both previous trips through this area, you will now meet Blitzes, a really rough new enemy. The hardest by a long shot in my opinion. Slicing him won't work at all while he's got all the electricity flowing around him. You have to shoot him (use Ebony & Ivory) and dodge his crazy electric beam and lunge attacks until his shield is down. After this is accomplished, you can finally get to slicing. Once you've sliced him a good bit, he'll get a new, red shield and start acting even more aggressively. He may attempt to lunge, grab you and then blow himself up for major damage. Use Devil Trigger if you get caught to avoid such a big explosion. Do your best, and continue on.
3. Enter the Grand Hall, head to the right to the first door on this level and go into the Gallery. Scour the area for orbs. Go out to the Library area, then jump up two levels on the third pillar down for some secret red orbs. Go inside, and fight a lot of Angelos.
4. Continue onward. You will see the ruins of a spiral staircase below. Move to the other side for the red crystal before jumping down. After you jump, Secret Mission 09 (really hard) is on the back of the bottom of the old stairs.
5. Once you've gone through that door, you'll end up in the Large Hall, though ice has sealed off every direction but the one into the Dining Room. Go there after breaking the candlesticks and chairs.
6. Go north, then turn into the actual dining room section to face a lot of Scarecrows and three Mega Scarecrows. As long as you keep hitting the Mega Scarecrows, they're pretty weak and the other enemies aren't really aggressive enough to get in your way. As before, though, watch out after you kill a mega scarecrow. Their blade may land on you. This fight should actually gain you health, from green orbs around the room.
7. Head counterclockwise in the Large Hall, getting the large green orb from in front of the ice and breaking the candlesticks. Go in the first available door moving counterclockwise. Rip the Frosts apart inside the Torture Chamber. Both Rebellion and Gilgamesh are really effective if you keep the Frosts on one side of you.
8. Fall down the huge hole here from before, get the green orb near you in a cage if you want, then hit the blue pedestal. After you've hit it, a blue platform will activate, allowing you to jump all the way up to the second floor of the torture chamber.
9. Head across the spiky ceiling you lowered earlier and go in the door to the Master's Chambers. While fighting the Scarecrows in here the Blitz suddenly attack. Go ahead and take care of the Scarecrows first. Try not to hit too many things in the room that may award health in the near future. Once you're in combat, do as before and keep shooting. Use Gunslinger style and hit Blitz with your O attack if he ever fails to hit you with his electrical beam. Slice him directly afterward, then avoid his suicide attack and he'll eventually destroy himself. Stick it out, hit everything in the room and use Devil Trigger. #TIP: The Blitz will apparently attack any remaining scarecrows through confusion, so you may not want to kill them first after all.
10. Outside in the Soldier's Graveyard you will find lots of breakable objects with powerups inside. Restock yourself and get ready for the upcoming boss fight with the Divinity Statue. The door to the boss is in the NE corner.
Boss #11: Dagon
1. Don't be confused, this is really the same as Bael. It's just one of his "brothers" he had mentioned before. He has the same attacks as before. In this case, the differences mean that you can't Buster his Rusalkas to pull him out. Instead, wait for him to jump out on his own. You can also now activate Devil Trigger to burst out of his mouth if he swallows you.
2. As it was with Echidna, you basically have to just slash like crazy to kill them, instead of using Busters as you did with Nero. Your reward for the fight is the Pandora, which you'll see used to incredible effect in the cutscene after the fight.
3. Drop down in the big pit after the fight. This concludes chapter 15.
Mission 16: Inferno
1. Be sure to check out the new Pandora upgrades available to you. As you can probably guess, this mission will end with Berial's demise.
2. You will be dropped down into a room with a poisonous gas that slowly drains your life. Despite this, there's a combat adjudicator in the room that only requires that you hit it for S level Stylish to receive a blue orb fragment. The green orbs around it will help you stay a while. Do that as quickly as possible then move on out to the east.
3. Cutlasses attack you here, and you can't Buster them out anymore. Therefore, the best you can do is shoot them until they're slow enough for you to slash. I would suggest shooting them with Ebony & Ivory, then using Stinger to quickly slash them, then make sure you hit them enough times to pull them up. After that, just keep hitting them so they don't go back down. I actually had less trouble here than I did with Nero, plus there are green orbs in the room to help you out.
4. The Speed ability most certainly helps in getting all the way down that hallway. You now move into the game room. Simply cut open the die. You don't have to deal with it as you did before. Instead, lots of Gladii will attack you. I'd suggest trying out your new Pandora on them, particularly where they clump together in the air or whenever they start spinning like they're going to launch at you.
5. Move on out the red door into Agnus' old containment room, where Gladii and Angelos will attack you. Use your Pandora a lot again, and Devil Trigger if low on health. Jump up once they're done. Stand where Yamato was for secret orbs, then finally head out to escape that poisonous gas.
6. Head up the stairs to the left at Foris Falls, breaking the barrels along the way. Go on ahead into the door. Angelos will attack you inside, so hit them from behind and feel free to blast them with Pandora. After you move on in the Angel Creation room, you'll fight two Altos with several more Biancos.
7. After you head south out of that room, you'll be told there's no more poisonous gas. Then you have to jump on the red platforms as you did with Nero here. Do so, then go down the long hallway.
8. In the Grand Hall, head up the stairs and out the painting. You'll be notified that the ice is gone. You can then get to a secret red orb stash just left of where you are (NW corner of the second floor) where the red orbs go up the wall. Do a kick jump followed by an Air Hike with Devil Trigger to get up to the secret red orbs on top of that wall. Now, go on down, break everything and then head out the front gate. Use the Divinity Statue if you need to, as you're getting close to the boss.
9. Just as Nero met the Frosts out here, Dante will meet the Basilisks. They resemble fiery dogs. Keep on the offensive and use Stinger a lot. They're not especially tough, but there are a lot of them and you don't want to get surrounded. Hit the smaller pillars around here for green orbs if you need to, then jump on the corner pillars as you did with Nero here for secret red orbs. The map will show a pathway out over the mountainside. More Basilisks will attack you once you get up to the right level. Keep moving along the mountainside south. Continue breaking the small pillars along the way for power-ups.
10. In the Second Mining area, just fall down the pit when you get to it. Break through the fence and the red crystal on that small western path. Finally, head south towards a boss battle with Berial.
Boss #12: Berial
1. Again, Berial uses the same attacks. You also no longer have Buster attacks. Just slash him a lot and his health goes down fairly quickly.
2. There aren't any buildings for health this time, so Devil Trigger is your only hope for healing during the fight. Also, get away when Berial is getting out of being slumped over, or else you'll fall victim to his powerful area attack.
3. You can also use the Disaster gauge you've been charging by using the Gunslinger O attack with Pandora out. There's no reason not to try that out here. Grab the red orbs once the cutscene ends, then head out south.
Mission 17: Adagio For Strings
1. When you Power Up, look if you want an upgrade for your new weapon, Lucifer.
2. There's a combat adjudicator in the next room here, but it's for Nero. Jump down and move on east. Head out the door and break the dumpsters around here.
3. Move on to the open wooden area where you faced Scarecrows near the beginning of the game. Some Scarecrows will spawn to fight you, followed by Bianco Angelos, followed by an Alto Angelo. You can try out Lucifer here if you like, or take care of them simply. You'll have to head east and through the door.
4. Move on, break the dumpster and jump up in the watchtower for secret orbs. Once you move through the archway, an Assault will spawn directly behind you, with more Assaults and Mephistos on the way. Take care of the Assaults first with persistent sword attacks, then use Pandora to de-cloak the Mephistos. This can be done in two shots, you can slice them sufficiently. Break the red crystal and pots and barrels around here for orbs, then move on ahead.
5. When you get out in the street a little bit, many Scarecrows, a couple of Mega Scarecrows and some Basilisks will attack you. You can basically leave the Mega Scarecrows alone, as they're surprisingly unaggressive. Take your space and kill the Scarecrows and Basilisks first. All of these sorts of enemies require the same strategy: Keep attacking them so they can't attack you.
6. After that fight, look at the east/southeast part of the map. Notice the restaurant with an awning and a red orb on top of it. Jump on that awning and you'll see a blue orb fragment up above. Unfortunately, the jump requires just barely more than a wall kick or Air Hike alone to jump up there, so you must activate Devil Trigger to use both. Grab it and move south. All the garbage cans and benches yield orbs when destroyed.
7. In the Opera House Plaza, there's a Secret Mission (#12) on your right, behind a garbage can. It's in front of the gate, so check that out before you continue through the arch and encounter another small fight. This one is against a team of two Mephistos, then two Alto Angelos, then a Faust. You know how to beat all of these enemies from before, and Pandora just makes it easier. Go up to the Opera House and walk around it. You'll find a Divinity Statue. Get ready for the next boss.
Boss #13: Agnus
1. Congratulations on fully backtracking as Dante. This time you'll be fighting a bug-form of Agnus, who returns with only one new attack: summoning Basilisks.
2. Keep Sword Master and use your air O attack to hit him for lots of damage while he's in the air. In general, save your Devil Trigger for situations where he grabs you and attempts to suck your life. Make sure you hit him when he says "Time to die!" and charges a black cloud around himself. If you hit him as he says this, he can't use that attack. Otherwise, keep slicing, use Pandora and heal with Devil Trigger.
3. Collect the red orbs afterwards and then move onto the blue glowing platform to end the mission.
Mission 18: The Destroyer
1. The last Hell Gate is destroyed, so this mission is all about the Savior. Use your last Power Up as Dante wisely. Your enemy is the Savior for this entire mission. Don't worry, it'll probably take longer than a regular mission would, despite the fact that it's sort of one huge boss battle.
2. You must destroy the blue crystals on the Savior's head, shoulders, arms, ankles and back to earn your way into the second phase. It is very important that you make sure you fully destroy all these crystals, because they will burst not once but twice before they count as destroyed. The game has given you a new power through Yamato with the Devil Slayer style, but I would suggest switching back to Sword Master. Yamato's special attack (back + O), while able to fully destroy the crystals in one hit, takes a long time to charge and you'll probably just get hit. I'd prefer slashing the crystals enough to fully destroy them.
3. Savior's Attack Patterns:
1. Elbows you.
2. Slaps the floating platform you're on.
3. Crushes the platform you're on, which causes you to fall.
4. Kicks your platform, which causes you to fall.
5. Crouches, then side-kicks the low area above your platform.
6. Shoots orbs at you, or charges his ultimate beam attack, which will destroy about one fourth of your health immediately.
4. The best way to dodge every one of these attacks is to simply move on to a blue platform and move to the next place. Several others can be simply side-rolled or jumped over. Make absolutely sure you move to another platform when he charges the last of those attacks I mentioned, and then go ahead and move one more platform over just to be safe.
5. There are two different ways to destroy the arm, shoulder and head crystals. For the first technique, hit the blue pedestals for the laser cannons at two separate points along the platforms to trap an arm. You can then jump along it and slash the crystals. For the second technique, wait until the Savior slaps your floating platform so you can jump on, after you dodge the slap. While you're up on either of the arms, be sure to shoot the head crystal, which will set off a cutscene.
6. In order to reach the ankle and back crystals, you have to reach one of the cannons on the extreme ends of the series of platforms. They're sort of hard to reach, as the Savior will destroy platforms inevitably, but you have to reach one and hit the blue pedestal next to it to cripple the Savior. Open up a straight line of jumps to each of the ankle and back crystals , and shoot or slash them. If you've fully destroyed each crystal, you'll be brought back up to be subjected to the Savior's ultimate attack.
Boss #14: The Savior
1. Now you get a life bar, and are able to auto aim on the Savior's chest crystal. The Savior's attacks are the same, but you have to keep shooting at his chest crystal with Ebony & Ivory and jumping platforms to dodge attacks. Once you've gotten enough shots in, the Savior will collapse much as he did when you used the cannons, and you'll be brought right in front of the jump you need to hit so that you can slash his chest crystal over and over. You have to do that twice before the Savior will finally die.
2. It's generally advisable to get next to the blue platform you're going to use before you start shooting the Savior. This way you can just side step onto it whenever he's about to attack.
3. Sometimes, you will be caught with no jumps left, due to the Savior destroying your platforms. The Savior will immediately use this opportunity to use his super death beam and really hurt you. This will at least refresh all the old platforms and you can jump anywhere for a little while again. Just try not to get hit in the earlier section of the fight, or keep some Vital Stars or a Golden orb with you.
Mission 19: The Successor
1. When the mission begins, you will be in a new version of the game room. You have to land on the purple spot in order to face a boss from earlier in the game. After he's down, you will proceed to the next level.
2. You basically fight all of the bosses again. Thankfully, you should know how the dice works from earlier. Whatever is face up on the die when you Buster it is what you'll get, so you can adjust it to land only on blue and purple. This will heal you. Then fight the bosses, with no interruptions.
3. For the first level, just roll a four to fight lots of Bianco Angelos with an Alto. If you've got the timing right, just wait for them to send the energy ball at you. You can Buster it and instant-kill all of them. If you don't, just use Devil Trigger and slice away while attempting to get used to fighting as Nero again. Once you've killed them all, you'll be on a larger board with green and white orbs at the two corners. Land on the purple to face Berial again.
4. To defeat Berial, look at the hints provided for when you first faced him, except now there are no houses to give you green orbs. Also, you have Devil Trigger to heal yourself and hurt him more. That's basically it, you should do fine if you healed before the battle.
5. Once you're on the next board, roll a three to heal, then roll a two if you're still not at full health. Roll whatever is remaining to reach the purple and you will face Dagon.
6. Dagon is the same as before and the same as Bael. Now you have Devil Trigger to hurt him more and escape if he swallows you. Your Buster attacks allow you to pull him out from a collapsed Rusalka. You weren't able to do this as Dante.
7. I wasn't really injured at all from that fight and the small green orb in the corner was plenty enough to heal me, but you can reach the yellow in one roll to get to purple. Next up is Echidna.
8. This is exactly the same as last time you faced Echidna, so you can really just follow my tips for that last fight against her as Nero.
9. Roll a five or six to get two yellows. This will will take you straight to purple. Otherwise you can aim for blue spaces for health before you get to them. Whatever you need, take your time. Bug-form Agnus is up next.
10. Agnus is the same as when you just faced him with Dante, which means that he is only different from his Nero form because he can summon Basilisks. He does seem to try to suck your life more than last time, so just keep hitting him so he can't use that attack (that's when he sort of glows golden, says something, and raises his arm up. You can still Devil Trigger yourself out of it, though).
11. Once he's dead again, you just have to go up the stairs and on through the glowing rock door. This completes mission 19.
Mission 20: La Vita Nuova
You may as well buy Vital Stars and golden orbs with your remaining red orbs, because this is it. It's just the final boss fight, and prices for blue and purple orbs will likely be sky-high by now.
Boss #15: Sanctus Diabolica
1. This is sort of the same as the previous boss fight against Sanctus with his attacks and two layered shield. You still have to use Snatch to jump up and hit his shield. He will then collapse to the ground and allow you to slash him, and then Buster him.
2. The Sword of Sparda he holds gives him a few new attacks. Whenever he suddenly disappears, he'll reappear somewhere and try to slash you with the Sword. For the first four fifths of his life bar, this is just some small area attack you can avoid by stepping away for a minute. In the last fifth of his life, he'll warp to the center of the room and charge up an attack with the Sword to charge you, then begin a really painful combo of slashes with it if you get hit. If he does this, a perfectly timed Buster will automatically Buster him. This will nearly kill him, especially if Devil Trigger is on.
3. He'll also now block your attacks in the air with his sword, which you can quite simply Buster away. This will cause him to sort of stumble in the air and will give you a great chance at destroying his second shield layer.
4. Your general attacks are the same as last time you fought him. Destroy both shield layers quickly enough so he can't refresh the shield, then slash him a few times while he's on the floor before Bustering him (preferably with Devil Trigger). In the last fifth of his life, this will get harder, because you have to dodge his super Sword of Sparda attack, unless you're able to time your Buster correctly to kill him. You should be used to this sort of fight from the last time you faced him.
5. After you've finally killed Sanctus, you'll get a long cutscene followed by a quick fight against the Savior. Don't worry, it's not like a real boss fight. Just dodge his fist as he slams down at you, Buster it, then time your Buster right against his slapping left hand. Finally, Buster his head as it falls down towards you. If you mess any of those steps up, he'll just start the series over. You shouldn't have to actually worry about it, the attacks don't hurt too much even if they hurt you.
6. Technically that's the end of the game. However, the first ending scene is followed by a minigame during the credits, forcing you to protect Kyrie from Scarecrows for a minute and a half. Use Streak, Buster, and your gun to keep them away. Successfully defend Kyrie and you'll get a special extra ending scene. #Congratulations, the game is finished, and you've unlocked the next difficulty level (unless you were playing on Human).
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 1
1. Pointed out by the tutorial on a lamp thing in Mission 02.
2. You simply have to eliminate all the scarecrows in a time limit. Using nothing but your Buster here will get them killed quickly and efficiently enough. You should have plenty of time remaining.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 2
1. Found in the Dining Room area in Mission 04, where the fire cannon was before your Gyro Blade destroyed it.
2. In it, you must execute a mid-air Buster 5 times before touching the ground. You are given a continual enemy of four scarecrows at a time until you've killed too many and must fail. Just jump up, Snatch an enemy up to you, Buster them quickly (mash the O button) and then pick up another one and repeat. If you are falling down, you're either not mashing that button quickly enough, or you're running out of scarecrows, or possibly not selecting a new one quickly enough. Keep going at it.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 3
1. In the Soldier's Graveyard under the stairs you take up to the Master's Chamber.
2. After you've beaten Mission 08, you earn the Aegis Shield, which allows you to Snatch enemies and hold them to you. Protect yourself from enemy attacks and spice in some taunts (select button) to raise your Stylish. Don't get hit, or you'll lose a lot, possibly having to start over.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 4
1. Behind weird yellow things in Mission 06 in the Angel Creation room. There are secret red orb stashes in several spots that will switch as you replay the mission. Expect places like behind the mirror upstairs, at the blue pedestal, where the Gyro Blade is and places like that. You just have to get lucky and find them all on one try, so just keep trying.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 5
1. Behind a tree on the left path from the bridge over the Lapis River.
2. Use a combination of winged talisman platforms and Grim Grips to reach the top. This is going to take several tries just to figure out how to do it, trial and error. There's one particularly tricky bit where the third platform requires you to move under a floating cage to get to the fourth, but you can't be where the fourth platform will block you. You'll have to play it to see exactly what I mean. Once you're to the caged platform, jump up in place to find a metal ledge at the wall and get on it. Go all the way to one side where the Grim Grip is between you and the platform, then use it, and you'll be able to see your goal.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 6
1. Behind a pillar in the room with the horizontal lasers in Mission 10.
2. Tough, but there's a trick to it. You have to defend a scarecrow from being overcome by the countless Chimera Seeds surrounding him, and you'll need both Air Hike and the Aegis Shield. Just grab (hold O) the scarecrow right at the start, then continuously jump with Air Hike down to the path that points straight south on the map, with the Gyro Blade. Get up on the ledge with the scarecrow, and then you're safe, until he walks back off of it.
3. Therefore, you need to take him as far as you can down that path, then come back and Buster all the Chimera Seeds. There will likely be some Seeds still left where they spawned, so head back and DO NOT attack the scarecrow any more, because you'll fail if he dies.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 7
1. In the Meeting Room you first go through in Mission 10 as Nero. You reenter the room as Dante in Mission 12. It is across from the Divinity Statue at the end of that room.
2. As you did as Nero before during the regular game, you have to activate platforms and go across them to the blue orb fragment without being knocked off by a limitless supply of Mephistos that will hound you. As Nero, you simply have to dodge their attacks and try to Snatch their cloaks off to get them off you for a moment. As Dante, you can shoot the Mephistos for an easier time, or return after you've earned Pandora and use your Gunslinger circle attack with it out to use Disaster Gauge and get across the chasm.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 8
1. In the gazebo at the Forest Entrance between the large log with seeds in it and the red crystal.
2. You must use your Royal Guard style (you can only do this secret mission as Dante) to successfully block five times in a row and never be hurt. You're facing Mephistos, and you just have to learn their attack patterns and know exactly when to block so that you don't get hurt. Take care of one of them to make things easier.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 9
1. Under the stairs in the Library area in Mission 15.
2. Defeat 3 Chimera Seeds, 3 Assaults, and then 3 Chimera Assaults without being harmed at any point. Probably the hardest secret mission, unfortunately. There aren't really any tricks to it, but just use Stinger (R1 + triangle and up) to keep the enemies at bay, and don't let the seeds reach the Assaults. Once the Chimera Assaults come up, you'll have a much more difficult time due to their blade attacks that can come at you at any point. You'll just have to be careful if you go the melee route. You can also attempt an all out Pandora assault, but this will take a while even with special Pandora attacks.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 10
1. You should get to this one in Mission 05, behind a mirror in the "Master's Chamber". You must take your Gyro Blade and bust five blue statues in the Large Hall.
2. They are located: 1. Right in front of you. 2. Near the four circles. 3. In the caged area on the southeast side. 4 and 5. In the hallways leading just past the caged area, moving west and south. Just keep your Blade charged with two hits or a Streak hit, and don't let it get stuck anywhere.
3. It may take a few tries, but correct manipulation will get it complete in the 2 minute time limit. You'll be rewarded with a blue orb fragment and another fight with those Bianco Angelos.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 11
1. Fortuna Castle Gate, very difficult to get to. After the introductory fight with the Basilisks as Dante, you climb up the mountain then head up the set of stairs going to the left. Face right from it and jump, Air Hike, then either use Lucifer's air triangle attack twice or use Pandora's special circle attack to glide over to it.
2. There are two pillars you must destroy with Pandora with its Revenge attack. Use Stinger to speed over to get level with one pillar, use Revenge, then run over to get level with the other one in time to use Revenge on it. You're on a time limit, so this may take a few tries.
Devil May Cry 4 Walkthrough - Secret Mission 12
1. Found behind a garbage can in the Opera House Plaza when you first get there in Mission 17 as Dante.
2. You're presented with the laser hallway Nero had to face, but with no ability to slow time. You can try it the (very) hard way by trying to jump through.
3. Just make sure you've got a well-filled disaster gauge from using Pandora, then equip it with Gunslinger and press circle. With it, you can glide through the lasers, all the way if you have enough disaster gauge.
